Holonomics Education, in association with Schumacher College, are delighted to introduce a new course which will be running between the 14th and 18th of January 2019. It will be the first time Maria Moraes Robinson and Simon Robinson bring both Holonomics and Customer Experiences with Soul to the UK, at one of the most highly regarded sustainability and design colleges in the world.

Executive Summary

Holonomics is a powerful approach for the profound transformation of organisations. This course has been created to help people make a practical impact on the evolution and sustainability of businesses based on universal human values and the expansion of consciousness. This is a unique opportunity to learn directly with the creators of Holonomics, authors and consultants Simon Robinson and Maria Moraes Robinson, who will be introducing their framework, tools and method in their entirety, from the development of an organisation’s strategy, to the creation of flourishing business models and the implementation of customer experiences with soul.

Introduction

Holonomics: Business Where People and Planet Matter describes a groundbreaking approach to implementing profound transformational change in organisations in which solutions are ones which engage people across the whole organisation, develop strong cultures, trust among members and effective communication. The Holonomics approach brings together strategy, innovation, design, systems thinking, spirituality, nature’s interconnectedness, philosophy, literacy, physics, biology, business and the five universal human values of peace, truth, love, righteousness and non-violence all together in a way that opens people’s eyes to uncommon dimensions of thought that have very practical applications.

This course will provide people with the tools, knowledge and inspiration necessary to both design and implement transformational programmes inside organisations, including public, non-governmental, and social and ecological initiatives, which engage senior executive teams, employees and whole workforces, and stakeholders across the entire ecosystem. It has been designed to help empower leaders with deep insights across every activity within the organisation, such as strategy, HR, innovation, sustainability, planning and operations in order to be able to create new strategies, innovation processes and ways of working across teams, departments, divisions, businesses and ecosystems.

Course Contents

To operate in the new economy with new paradigms and new logic, people need to develop an expanded form of consciousness, develop systems thinking to solve complex issues, and develop emotional intelligence to provide much more human qualities to cultures where the focus is on technology as the major solution to global problems.

This course has therefore been designed to empower people to play a full and impactful role in the new economy, no matter what their current occupation, position or challenges they are facing. This course includes a unique combination of themes and content, such as the Balanced Scorecard methodology, as well as new tools such as the Holonomic Circle and the Flourishing Business Canvas.

These elements will all be brought together from the perspective and philosophy of Holonomics, therefore demonstrating how the tools, techniques and methodologies can all combine into one single coherent and systemic approach which will empower people to make authentic new business paradigms a reality.

Holonomics and the Dynamics of Seeing

One of the most important dimensions of the Holonomics approach is ‘the dynamics of seeing’. The reason is that within general business practice there is an implicit assumption that the world ‘out there’ is a given and that people simply have different opinions about it. One of the qualities of a truly great designer is that the manner in which they experience the reality is dynamic, always searching for new ways of seeing and understanding the world.

The importance of the dynamics of seeing to developing a more profound understanding of systemic business strategy, flourishing business models and customer experience design cannot be underestimated. All of us have the capacity to evolve if we develop an expanded level of consciousness but we also have to develop awareness of the barriers which can prevent us from achieving this.

Customer Experiences with Soul

Customer experience design is the forgotten dimension of sustainability. We need to transcend what have now become well-defined approaches and definitions of customer experience, to help companies understand why their offerings are no longer resonating with people, and how to develop a profound understanding of the lived experience of every single person whose lives our organisations touch.

Customer Experiences with Soul: A New Era in Design describes how the Holonomics approach can be put into practice in relation to customer experience design. The insights from the book apply to product and service development, organisational design, branding, communications, leadership, training and strategy.

The Holonomic Circle is a tool which encapsulates the Customer Experiences with Soul framework, and which articulates the meaning of soul in a design, business and branding context. It provides a holistic framework for designers, corporate entrepreneurs, creative leaders and those starting a new business or initiative to explore the principles underlying the dynamics of soulful experiences. It does so by linking the tools, techniques and frameworks for developing customer experiences with soul with an exploration of the questions of authenticity, purpose and human values.

The Flourishing Business Canvas

The Flourishing Business Canvas provides a common language for describing and designing enterprises with a diverse range of stakeholders and goals.

It builds an understanding of interconnections of the organisation, its products and services with its communities and the world: Economically, Socially, Environmentally. It enables broader, deeper and richer conversations about all aspect of value co-creation. And it provides the context to enable stakeholders to collaborate around shared goals informed by their values – enabling teams to align on key strategic decisions.

Systemic Strategy and Balanced Scorecard

Balanced Scorecard methodology is the fifth most used management tool in the world. Created from a systems thinking philosophy, it was revolutionary when introduced as it does not simply focus on financial outcomes; rather it translates organisational strategy into four classical perspectives: the financial perspective, the customer perspective, the internal perspective and the learning and personal development perspective.

Every major issue therefore which has an impact on overall performance can be given the same level of importance as financial matters. Balanced Scorecard also takes a systemic approach to the integration of long term, medium and short term views, allowing people to understand and encompass all the issues facing their organisation, such as sustainability and community relationships.

Balanced Scorecard is therefore not just a methodology which is only to be used in a corporate context. It can be used to help develop and structure the strategy for many forms of organisations and activities, such as towns and cities, governmental projects, NGOs and educational initiatives, for example Todos Pela Educação (Education for All), Brazil and the city of Barcelona, Spain.

For all of these reasons, Balanced Scorecard can contribute to fostering a collective sense of authentic wholeness in an organisation, when implemented by a conscious leadership from a wider systemic perspective, with a strong sense of values and purpose.
