Abraps – the Brazilian Association for Sustainable Development Professionals is a non-profit institution committed to strengthening the performance of professionals who work with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (the SDGs), in a differentiated and complementary manner to the approaches of other institutions who also work in this area.
The organisation focuses on the work of professionals in sustainable development, a category that brings together people with common beliefs, competencies and values, and who work daily to make sustainable development happen.
The SDG Talks is Abraps’ largest annual event and this year aims to show how collaboration can drive and create positive progress in the implementation of the United Nations’ Agenda 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
The event will bring together stakeholders from different sectors of society to discuss and contribute to charting the best paths to sustainable development. There will be panel discussions, case presentations, business models and initiatives to fulfil Abraps’ mission to promote and strengthen sustainable development.
The theme in 2019 is Collaboration:
Knowledge and innovation
Education is the link that needs to included in the whole process of helping people to build a new model of human development; one that that respects planetary boundaries through science, technology and disruptive imagination.
Responsible and sustainable consumption and production require a process of cultural transformation across society and business models to shift from linear conceptions of economics and consumption to circular models aligned with sustainable development.
Empowerment and the New Economy
Sustainable development is in the hands of professionals working in many different types of enterprise, and at different hierarchical levels, who therefore require knowledge and tools necessary to guide the decision-making and operational processes of resilient organisations that want success in the new sustainable economy.
Collaboration for Development
Partnerships accelerate sustainability and help people to seek a higher quality of life, prosperity, respect for diversity and ensure the regenerative use of natural resources such as water and renewable energy sources which maintain the resilience of the plan and the preservation of biodiversity, combating the climate crisis and providing solutions for human communities to be sustainable.
The SDG Talks from ABRAPS is an event for all professionals who work in this area who want to act in accordance with the principles of sustainable development to create business value, generate flourishing prosperity for society and maintain the resilience of the environment.
Maria Moraes Robinson and Simon Robinson will be taking part in the opening panel session that will discuss education, science and technology for sustainability.
